    Hi Jenny.
I think Kingfishers must be amongst everyone’s favourites. They are beautiful but very hard to get close to (in my experience). Well done on two great shots. I’m jealous. :D

Cheers miki :) I could watch them for hours, stunning birds.
I have about forty shots (most of them the same :) )

There was a blade of grass that kept getting blown in the way, it kept the auto focus on
    its toes :)

Thanks Eugene, these were taken in Wales, but there are Kingfishers
up in the Vartry Resevoir in Roundwood, which at the moment they are
hard to find as the water level has dropped so drastically.

Thanks Padraig, there seems to be plenty of them about, if there are any fishing
clubs near you it is worth asking them if they see any, they are very terratorial birds
and seem to stick to their own patch, once you locate them then its just a matter
of sitting and waiting…….one will turn up eventually :)

    Hi Padraig.
Any lake or clean slow moving water scource with a good fish population is potentially a good place to find kingfishers. If there are suitable perching areas over the water, it could be worthwhile to stake them out. Kingfishers also tend move into coastal areas during the winter. As Jenny says, they are territorial, so if you see them once in an area, there’s a good chance you will see them again.

Love this bird. There is one near my house. I’ll try to get some pics.
Are they around all year does anyone know? Nice photos by the way.
