He is a beauty, just spent the last four hours waiting for “my” one to appear, he did but
decided that he was going to fish on an old perch instead of the one my camera was
trained on :( all part of the fun :)johnson76ParticipantYeah typical.. i saw this one earlier that morning .. as a blue streak …. heading away from me .. was just lucky he came back then for the look and fish session ….
ah well.. there is always tomorrow eh :D
shutterbugParticipantIt looks a little on the dark side, maybe a little bit of fill light might bring
the colours out more? especially with the brighter water behind him it would
really highlight him.SeaviewParticipantVery nice, I’d love to see one perched or fishing, only ever saw one flying by.
Dave.
RedtopParticipantmiki gParticipantNice capture. The lighting mustn’t have been great though. Lovely birds, but very hard to try to photograph. Well done
MikkaParticipantVery good effort if this was a chance capture.
I was out fishing on the canal close to me a while back, sat on my seatbox, 10m pole in the rests, nothing much happening when a Kingfisher landed on my pole and sat there not more than 6m from me for a good 10 seconds if not more. There I am, both hands free (camera in car), totally overawed by the sight of a bird that most of the time is a blue streak across the water, Jesus I could have nearly hand fed it  :cry:shutterbugParticipantMikka wrote:

through a bush and have had Kingfishers land on it a couple of times, I think they are quite intelligent and equate
fishing rods with fish!MACParticipantjohnson76ParticipantThanks guys.. i might try the telescopic rod next so … i have seen them fishing from afar.. i was just lucky this morning… light was terrible… was shooting 1600ISO at f5.6 and 1/300 or there abouts.. and i was lucky he just sat there for the minute or two… will touch up the color a little more – if possible Shutterbug – just conscious of the noise coming into it some more
Will check out this week now again and see if I can get a perch or fishing rod from somewhere :D

I got the rod in Aldi’s wasnt expensive and fits in the car grand, but any stick/branch/rod will do they dont seem
to be fussy as long as it is in their flight path they will use it.MallachtParticipantFrom a Johnston to a Johnson I would murder for a capture like that well done great shot
