Not Pete the blokeParticipant
Just back from a most enjoyable weekend in Cork, on a Bjorn Thomassen course. Thanks to Liam Ramsell of East Cork Camera Club for organising it; to Thorsten for picking me up at Cork airport; and to Paddy Barker of Barker Photographic for supplying all the lighting equipment…….
all of which combined to allow me to capture this photo of the fantastically photogenic model, Kitty. This one is diffused natural window light with a reflector.
PeteTheBlokeMemberNice to see more of your shots Ross.
This looks great to me – it’s not my normal department, as you know.
The light, exposure and conversion seem excellent.
I wonder if the area where the skirt starts to widen detracts from the
elongated style of the shot? I feel the streamlined silkiness is improved
with a crop near the waistline. Not Pete the blokeParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberWhat are you up to Ross? The shot I commented on has disappeared
and been replaced with a totally different one.Ignore the above – it’s back now. Pretty fluid thread, this one.
Not Pete the blokeParticipant:lol: I must have changed it just as you were commenting on it!!!
It has now returned. :D
PeteTheBlokeMemberConfusing us poor Welshmen…
There’s something almost Kate Moss-like about her wide-spaced eyes and
high cheekbones. You’ve got a good one there in no.3.
In fact they all look good – that’s why you chose them for critique I s’pose.RobMemberReally like that last one Ross, great light and terrific in the dark
background. Really nicely done.
I’m not particularly taken by the first image, although the exposure
looks spot on to me in those whites; I think the difficulty with this one
is that the model looks decidedly awkward and the pose, or possibly just
the garment she’s wearing, is not very flattering.
Overall nice work though. Gorgeous model and lovely light…Rob.
kaskadeParticipantHi Ross,
Photos look great! Must get working on mine. I really enjoyed the course!
Caroline
Not Pete the blokeParticipantHey Caroline! Looking forward to seeing some of your work from the weekend!
Ross
ThorstenMemberJust the one from me for the moment I’m afraid. Still haven’t gotten around to working on the rest of them.
– Thorsten.
Not Pete the blokeParticipantAnd why hide it in here instead of displaying it in all its glory on a new thread… As I said elsewhere, it is my opinion that this is potentially an award winning image. Everything about it oozes quality – the subject, the composition, the model’s pose, the framing in the archway, the toning, the range of tones from dark through to white, subtle shadows etc – all brilliant, and all combine to produce a fantastic picture. I seriously cannot praise it highly enough.
Ross
elludeParticipantLooks like you had a good time on this photoshoot and got some super shots from it!
Also good that it covered both indoor and outdoor lighting. Was it over two days?
summerdreamnMembergreat shots! color me impressed :)
may i ask how the course went? i recently got a book of his and would love to attend one of his courses. i’d consider going to the UK for it as well, judging by the awesome shots you’ve posted!
AllinthemindParticipantgreat model :) Lovely expressions in your shots Ross, lovely lighting, not sure about the compositions, although frankly, her eyes are so captivating, who cares! :)
Thor, great shot of her limbs, what fab pins! The door looks wonky and her expression looks odd, again, great pose from the model and I like the general composition.
Sounds like you had a fun time.
