KP Level 10, Iceland.

After traveling to Iceland to capture the Aurora borealis we had two nights of displays at a level 2 on the KP index, we were quite happy to capture some shots of it…. in fact we were chuffed to bits to have some clear skies and to be able to see it with the naked eye….mark that one of the bucket list!

But what happened on our third night will live with me forever, at 5:40pm the lights started to show… a level 3 or 4 perhaps? No! We were blessed to be here for what turns out to be the best Aurora display in 20 years… A level 10 KP!

Oh, what an experience and to get a beautiful image must have been amazing. I bet you were well pleased with yourself when you saw this image on screen for the first time.

Great Photo & amazing experience Brendan. I would’ve probably forgotten to press the shutter if I was lucky enough to witness something like this. Very well done.

    Hi

Like them a lot and also looks like you also got a shooting star near the top of your photo as well. Well been in the right place at the right time is 1 in a 100 with the aurora and to have a shooting star in it at the same time is 1 in 1000. I would say.

super job Bren I would love to head northwards to capture the lights or “Rory the bollox ” as it’s known as up here by a good few phototogs, any chance you could stick up a KP 2 photo so to compare the 2, with a kp of 3 and the BZ’s in the minus we can get a faint glow up here in Donegal
