I recently got myself a monopod. Jeeez people, go out and buy one immediately if you havent got one! I bought a fairly good one, a Slik Pro for ?45 on ebay. It is simply fantastic for sitting on a bench doing street photos, standing doing sports or people shots. You can wrap your leg round the bottom part and pull the camera into your body – dont know why I have not used one until now!!
    Canon 5D with 70-200 f4, monopod, ISO 800, 1/2000 sec 200mm F4.

Ross looks like you really made good use of it. I really like No1, 2 great shots.

    Cheers soda!

A couple more. Look at the boots on the girl in the foreground in the second shot – they are like mini ski boots – they look like hard fibreglass type boots? Never seen those before!

The last two are great. They look good for 800 ISO.

You wish! In fact the Canon 5D is renowned for it’s low noise characteristics at high ISO. There are full time professional photographers who use the 5D as their camera of choice in preference to the much more expensive 1Ds Mk II for this reason alone.

I don’t normally venture into the Sports forum. Must do so more often. These are good shots. Look’s like it was late evening.

Agree about the monopod. Mine is fairly battered looking now though. I’ve thought about getting a new one but there’s nothing wrong with the one I have so I guess I’ll keep on using it until it collapses. I added a small tilt head to mine because you can’t use the camera vertically otherwise, unless of course you use something like the lens you used, fitted with a collar. In fact that’s the ideal way to use a monopod. But of course, shorter lenses don’t have a collar.

These were approx 4.30pm today, and the artificial pitch is normallyt bright green. Today it was covered in a heavy frost which has remained there all day, giving it an overall whitish-grey colour.
