No probs Paddy, Very nice image and EEEK!!!! I’m afraid of heights so it certainly has impact.
Where exactly was this taken ?PaddyJoeParticipantwe camped at port in west donegal. this is over the headland to the right. very steep, but not as scary as it looks here.
AliParticipantandy mcinroyParticipantThis looks like a spectacular and precarious position.
Back a bit, back a bit!!
Photographically, coastal views from clifftops are perhaps the hardest form of landscape photography. Compositions are very tough to arrange and they generally feature too much sea. A curve like this can help you a little but it’s still very tough. Sometimes a telephoto can help pull out interesting parts of a rock coastline such as this.
Here’s an example of mine from a clifftop where I’ve struggled a bit with the composition http://www.andymcinroy.com/ir159.htm
Your version definitely gives some idea of scale which is a good start. The light isn’t great unfortunately so it might be worth returning. Perhaps it would be worth returning on a stormy day and trying some B&W.
Just be careful.
Andy
PaddyJoeParticipantthanks andy. it was quite sunny that day. are pix better when the day is stormy?
i may think about getting a new camera too because this one is quite good for landscapes as you can see. but its not so good for indoor photos and i fancy doing some work with models like gerardk mentioned in another section. i’m a beginer so i might ask a question in the camera section. i like that pic of your’s with the flare in the sun that you mentioned.

It’s not that photos are better when it’s stormy, it’s just that the light tends to be more interesting when the sun is not straight overhead. Landscape photographers often aim to get out in the morning or evening, when the sun is low in the sky.
Pete
PaddyJoeParticipantthanx pete. i’m a bit of a beginer. i’ll have to try to get out at diffrent times and see what the pix are like then.
