Absolutely stunning shots Martin. If this is what you produce when you’re rushing I can’t wait to see what you come up with when you’re taking your time.
Wonderful!!
KiltubberParticipantGreat shots Martin. I would have to agree with Pete, the first one reminds me of some of the landscape in California. The second one is my favourite. Good stuff, thanks for posting.
John.MartinParticipantThanks all again
seanmcfoto: 2nd shot was taken on the way up to Ben Bury. The lake in the middle ground is Doo Lough. 3rd shot was taken across from the lough valley in. The area is the northern end of Derry Claire Lough.
RobMemberStunning set of images Martin. Love this countryside – my mother is from Maam -and visit
whenever I get the opportunity. These are some of the best I’ve seen from Connemara.Rob.

Enjoyed all your images. The first two are my favourites, really well crafted images, compositions are very strong. The colours in the landscape are so natural, very refreshing.
Do you carry much gear the fact you climb as well. Whats the story with your fellow climbers do many of them take photos.
tara1MemberMartinParticipantThanks all again for the replies
Eddie: My fellow climbers/hill walkers don’t take photos at all im the only one in the gang that takes photos which is a pity as i don’t have many pictures with me in them. As for how much gear i carry around it depends. If im out hill walking on my own i carry all my gear and just make it a shorter walk so as to give me time to take photos. If im with others hill walking i cut down on the amount of gear, generally just bring the D200 body with a 17-35 or 12-24 lens and polarizer. If im climbing with ropes etc i cut it right down on the camera gear and don’t bring any SLR with me at all i just use my little 6 mega pixel Canon A95 which is an excellent little camera and i have captured some great shots with it, below is one of my favorites taken with it in the Alps about 2 years ago (the guy in the picture is Noel my climbing partner that trip)
Thanks Again all
MEddieParticipantThanks for the insight, i knew from your Photobox site that you did some serious climbing and wondered about how you could climb and photograph. Thanks again.
wjklewisMemberGlad I stopped by in this section too Martin, great shots love them all. Do you do anything to saturate the colours or is that straight from the camera. Also which 12-24 lens are you using?
John.
MartinParticipantwjklewis: Colours are straight from the camera really. I took them as jpegs with the “vivid” setting (normally shoot raw but shot these on jpeg). I might have added a very small s shaped curve to up the contrast on some of them (used bibble lite). Other than that I just sharpened them and added a border. Main reason for the colours was that I was using a polarizer on the lens which removes the reflections from the grass; trees etc and let the real colours come through. The 12-24 lens I am using is the Tokina version. It?s an excellent lens and very well built also does not vignette with my polarizer?s are lee filters. I was looking at the Nikon version but could not justify the price. Very happy with it. Bought it at a bargain price new on ebay for 380 euro (600 in the shops in Dublin). Below is the review I used to decide which lens to buy. There are more up to date reviews now but I found it use full at the time

FlipflipParticipantI rarely ever comment in this forum. Landscape just isnt my thing.
But christ those shots are absolutely stunning. You have a great eye for composition. Some of the strongest compositions ive seen in a very long time.
I cant say much else without repeating the praises that have already been given so ill leave it here by saying, fair play. You should be very proud.
Brian_CParticipantThese are just wonderful shots. Really are. If these were taken in a rush I love to some with a little consideration. I don’t think you needed our Lee’s and it’s good you were stuck it the polarizer.
Just wonderful.randomwayMemberIt looks like you’re a skilled hiking photographer, if there is such a thing at all. The first and last pictures from Connemara are perfectly what you would like to show to the world about that place.
mgstParticipantBeautiful set of images no if i had to choose from the original set it would be no 2 & 5 but the all have great colours
and composition. And the mountain snow scene is spectular.Mick
