    Hi all,

FYI flood lighting gave 1/500 sec f2.8 ISO 1250

    Thanks Paul and Soda,

It was the first time shooting under floodlighting. I was eager not to miss the opportunity. One of the Sportsfile photographers was telling me that in some of the soccer grounds the floodlighting is terrible and very uneven. The fact that Hurling needs to be played on the same pitch the quality of lighting needs to be very good. Unfortunately fast lens are almost a requirement inorder to try and freeze the action.

You never know Paul we might end up bumping into each other at the Laois vs Armagh match.

    Regards,
    Conor

Great shot of a great football team 8) I was wondering how the new floodlights would work out for photographers, thanks for posting the iso/exposure.

Your experience in the press probably makes you crop quite assertively, but I wonder for a general photograph if you cropped less severely would it work out better. I’m sorry I’ve little experience with sports so maybe I’m talking garbage.

some of the grounds up north have got realy dull floodlights and even a fast lens isnt good enough try shooting action at a 30th os a second on a 300mm

    Fintan,

Just checked my cropping and I took 15% off left and top. I was concerned that if I was going to do any cropping that evening I should try and minimise it as the ISO was high and I was at risk of making it very grainy.

    Regards,
    Conor
