Girl is Helen who is’nt a model.5faytheParticipantHi Nick,
I was waiting for some fashion expert member to comment
but I’ll have a go myself.I presume you took the picture?
I like this image.
I was wondering if it’s colour and composition are to a spec supplied to you.The colour is nice but I can’t help wondering what a more saturated version
would look like.I would also prefer the “model” to have more space in front of
her than behind her. It’s still very nice as it is.
Cheers,
John.
nickmoranParticipantHi John,
Thanks for the comment. The colour and composition are the result of my own tinkering. It was taken in a field of flowering rape-seed which as you probably know is very yellow,i did’nt like the strength of the colour and i’d noticed before that yellow acts well in a black and white conversion.I did that, then re-added some colour using one of the highlight tinting options in Adobe Lightroom.Come to think of it i may have used some dodging and burning too on the clothes themselves.I took about a thousand photos on the morning as there were four other garments but this is my favourite, despite the lack of space that we both noticed at the front of the model it’s still one of the better ones,I can post some more if you are interested, they differ quite a bit.
nickmoranParticipantnickmoranParticipantPippateeMemberNot an expert by any means Nick, but I think this shot deserves a comment …
I like the colour tint onscreen, but I wonder if perhaps a more traditional sepia tone might suit this better if you ever print this?
As mentioned, I think this would benefit from a crop from behind the subject, leaving her facing into the shot,
other than that, I really like this and have come back to view it a number of times …

nickmoranParticipantThanks Philip, appreciate the comments and the visits. Here is another shot from the same shoot……..this is cropped as taken,i’m not sure why i cut the models head off,but i think the posture of arms and shoulders have a balance of their own.Same location as other shot,Thanks again

5faytheParticipantHi Nick,
While I appreciate the tones in #1 I love the colours in #2.
They seem very natural and this includes the skin tone.As for the image? I don’t know.
John.
aoluainParticipantHi Nick,
I have popped in the view this one . . . [#1]
a few times and I really love it. I have very limited experience in shooting
people/models but living with my partner and her 14 Y/O I get to look at
a lot of fashion glossies and I know what I like.I love the colours in this and the ‘models’ expression is intriguing, she is
very pretty and is well suited to her costume or visa-versa and the location
is in keeping with the theme, lovit and want to see it bigger than this . . .aoluainParticipant5faythe wrote:

Ditto.
It is frustrating not to be able to see helen’s head !
exposure is spot on, very natural.

nickmoranParticipantthanks Aoluain for posting the larger image of No.1,i really appreciate the interest.Although i really like Flickr,i’ve rarely got ongoing and productive criticism, this is where smaller community sites have a definite advantage.
