Hadn’t much time to take this. Haven’t seen one in years.
Comments welcome. (Had a chance to take one shot and it disappeared).

Brilliant. They move like lightning, don’t they?
I’m assuming it was in Ireland? I think there’s a survey somewhere
that records these because there aren’t too many about. You should
google it and see if they want your pic.

I didn’t reply to this cos I assumed it wasn’t in Ireland-
The pi Book of Irish Amphibians might be a slender volume-

So, what is it, where was it?

Nice picture; if its in Ireland, much more so-

It’s a reptile. We ain’t got many cos of that other famous Welshman – St Patrick.

The viviparous lizard is Ireland’s only lizard and is quite common in a number of dry habitats. It is yellowish-brown in colour with irregular black markings along the length of the body.

This is what I know it as.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt

I saw it in Donegal during the summer. My kids were fascinated as they have always been told that we dont have Lizards or Snakes in Ireland.
It was about 5-6 inches long. (Including the tail).
As i said I haven’t seen one in years.

We need some REAL naturists, oops, naturalists. Where’s Noely, and Dr MJ?

Have just been in touch with the Irish Wildlife Trust.

They have asked for details so lets wait and see…

Don’t tell JB before me – I’ve just offered him a ten pound bet that it’s a lizard.

Apparently it depends on the number of toes on the front leg from my research this am.

Its not clear from this photo but I have one other which clearly shows as he/she scarpered off at high speed…

    I’m not telling

Pete, go take your candy from a different baby,
when Derry’s Dr Dolittle shows his cash,
its got to be a sure thing-

I suppose that I’ve worked out that its probably not a crested newt-
and I really can’t remember any of the others-

So put your tenner back in your pocket,
    and listen to the man-

    Not a Naturist.

Pete, you don’t strike me as someone who would bet on anything
other than a sure-fire, copperbottomed, dead cert, cast-iron banker-
in fact, you getting your money out
was the thing that finally convinced me that it must be a Lizard-
