Hmmm .. is that Pont Neuf in the background? As much as I like the idea and I think that getting low works and the DoF looks good .. I can’t help feeling your choice of perspective here to be a bit awkward .. perhaps a side-on view might have offered a better angle .. I realise you would have lost the view in the background in favour of a plain quay wall, but imo that would be preferable.. :!:
LdonnchaParticipantI love it! I think the vertical orientation works really well because that’s where your subject is looking (or not if you could hear snores..)
He’s pin-sharp, DOF is so shallow everything else is blurred and it’s such an unusual thing to find as your eyes run down the image it made me look twice to see exactly what it was.Well done!
MartinParticipantVery nice picture Sancho. I like the perspective. Only thing for me that i would change is that i would not have had such a narrow DOF. I think the background is part of what makes this shot great so i would not have had it so much out of focus. I know little about street photography so i could be totally wrong:-)
SANCHOMemberi’m on a bit of a narrow DOF buzz at the mo so apologies for that. twasn’t with a fast lens but done in photoshop so i still have the original which has more DOF. i’ll post it up when i get a chance to see if it works any better. and sometime around July i’ll have my baby back and will post something new. For now i shall continue commenting on everyone’s fantastic work. :)
randomwayMemberI like the vertical, that’s where the man looks as it was said before… what I don’t like is the steel door on the left… going a few steps to the left would have been better, but this photo is good as it is.
Btw, this is how I feel now, I think it’s time to go to bed…
Well spotted and Nice work!
