andy mcinroyParticipant
Very exciting news and not just because I’m a long time Pentax user.

– 10 Megapixel, 22bit AD convertor (4.2 million graduations per channel!! compared to 4096 on your 12 bit cameras)
– In body shake reduction essentially makes 40 years worth of Pentax K mount lenses immediately stabilised.
– Weatherproofing
– New image engine promises an significant reduction in the 10megapixel noise problem. And lots more
Price reported to be around ?600-700 but might be as low as ?550 ($899 RRP).
When combined with some of the new and interesting Pentax glass (21mm, 40mm, 70mm pancakes) this will be a very attractive package, especially for streetshooters.

PeteTheBlokeMemberCan’t wait to buy one Andy. If it’s really the price you mention, then I may not even need to win the lottery first.

Why do I get the feeling that will mean blotchy images at high ISO?
andy mcinroyParticipantSteve,
These cameras are preparing to ship within a few weeks so I expect to see reviews very soon.
Then we will know for sure. It’s great to see Pentax now leading the way at this price point after so many years of catching up. The Samsung merger seems to have paid off. I think Sony and Samsung will be giving Canon and Nikon a bit of slap. With Pentax’s optical knowhow and Samsung’s electronics experise it just remains for them to get the marketing right and they will be in a very strong position.

carlParticipantGood to see the small fish battling hard. Good news for the consumer whether you like Canon, Nikon, Pentax or Sony.
carlParticipantBTW, I would love to see that Pentax 40mm pancake lens appearing on a Canon mount! :)

ohh.. that sounds interesting .. be a bit daft though if the lenses aren’t weatherproofed as well though …
andy mcinroyParticipantI believe there are two pro spec weatherproofed lenses on the way.
A 16-50mm F2.8 and a telephoto zoom also.
