Leica M8

Anybody has any experience with this camera? It gets slagged off in most reviews when compared with DSLRs but it does have a following of so called “discerning” users. It is expensive and Leica lenses cost more than a two up two down in some of the less attractive locations in Greater Manchester. However some of the images I have seen are stunning. Here is a nice collection shot in Venice by a photographer called Tim Ashley. They were considered of sufficient merit to be linked to from Leica’s M8 website section. I know that it is not the camera that creates the image but the M8 might be a quirky alternative to the usual high end DSLRs. I was always impressed with range finder film cameras. The view finder was so much brighter and more clear than a SLR.
