Following some advice from Derek897, I had a look around the web at sites regarding lens focusing tests. I found the chart in the image on the Jeffrey Friedl’s Blog, the post is from 2007 but it still worked for me. :D :D see link below. I read the blog a few times and printed the chart a few times and then I took a few shots at various angles, the images below are the result and I can say with some confidence that my lens doesn’t have any focusing issues.
Hi Dave, glad to hear that it’s focusing spot on, the only problem now is that it’s probably your fault :)
At f6.3 it should be tack sharp, unless shutter speed was too slow, but at 1/800 it doesn’t seem to be the problem either. Is it possible that you delayed between getting focus lock and taking the shot ? Even fractionally? Can’t really think of any other reason.
