lens for Nikon D3200

How would this work as a replacement for the kit lens on a nikon D3200? It would be for shootng portraits and street photography. I want a shallow dof.
I am just wary that at 200mm 5.6 is biggest aperture, would it struggle in low light?
Have you looked at the 50mm f1.8 AFS ? Would be fine for street (35mm might be preferred but more expensive) and portraits.
