aoluainParticipant
Does anybody know where one would get a lens repaired.
I have a very used Canon 28-70 F2.8 L and the front “tube” seems to
have a lot of play in it and there seems to be abberations in
some pics I take !I have a contact in the UK that does this but just wondering is there anyone in Ireland
who can look/repair this?Alan
brownieParticipantTheir used to be a place near Portabello College in Dublin,
think he has moved as they were next door to D.M.L. and
they have moved to a bigger site. Alan is the contact and his
no. is 01-4781638, they used to repair all makes of cameras
and lenses and the service was very good.aoluainParticipantThanks Noel,
I gave them a ring there but Alan wasnt in.
Im going to send up the lens and have them survey it.
Beats sending it to the U.K.Thanks again Noel, i will give them a good plug when the work is complete.
ctwomeyParticipantHi all,
Image Supply Systems (http://www.imagesupplysystems.ie/) in Liberty Lane is the Authorised Canon Professional Camera Service Facility for Ireland.
Give them a buzz.

ConoraoluainParticipantISS yea but they farm all the work to Canon UK!

I have sent the lens up to Dublin as Noel suggested! Thanks anyway.

Alan seems very knowledgable about Canon stuff dont know about other makes though.
He can turn around his repairs quite quickly.
The problem i had with my lens has been well sorted but i notice now that
i am getting a lot of blue/red abberations through the zoom range.I am really toying with idea of not sending it back to him !!!
I received the lens back about a week after it was posted up but when i
got it back the USM focusing was sticking at infinity, so i sent it
back and Alan was very helpful and had it turned around again in about a week
but still to me is not calibrated properly.Ill probably ring him tomorrow, ill take a few more test shots today and check them out.
I have another place in the UK to send stuff but they have a 3 week turnaround.
I dont like knocking people and there could be a simple explanation for the glitches
but its annoying having to send the fheckin thing aver asnd back.Alan
DenverDollParticipantThank you so much for that Alan!
It’s very helpful information to me
Good place to start.
I think the problem that I have can be either quite easily fixed, or never fixed, and he could sure let me know.
Again appreciated,
Sharon

This guy, is without doubt, the greatest ***** I have ever had the misfortune to come across.
I’m not going to go into all the details but I dropped in a camera for repair three weeks ago to this *****.
That was the last contact I had from him until today. I rang him at least twice every day. Not once did he answer the phone. I left numerous messages for him to call me. Not once did I get a return call. I texted him on numerous occasions but not once did I get a reply from him. I called his sidekick Declan on numerous occasions. He promised me that he would get Alan to call me. Not once did he call me.
Eventually I had to sit outside his house for over an hour until he came home this afternoon. When I approached him and asked him wtf was going on he acted like this was normal and he was working on the camera. He brought out the camera to me and started to show me what he thought was wrong but he hadn’t so much as looked at it. It was still in the bag that I gave it to him in.
It took all my power not to knock his teeth back his throat so I brought my camera home with me. I’m now back to square one again only three weeks down the line.
You would want to have your head tested to give this ***** anything belong to you.
MartinParticipantSo hes off your Christmas card list then Ballyman :-)
Have dropped a few things into these guys at this stage, never had a problem. Declan even cycled into town and met me outside the place I work to give me back my bronica when it was last in for surgery. Great guys, can only think that they were away on holidays for a week or were swamped with repairs to do….

jb7ParticipantI haven’t had a problem with them either-
