johnny
how did you attach the mamiya lens to you canon
do you have an adapter ring or something???
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantjb7ParticipantIts an interesting comparison Johnny,
but it doesn’t look like its been conducted very scientifically-
there looks to be some movement in the second shot,
which is probably unavoidable given the subject matter-There isn’t really any point in commenting on the pictures unless you care to tell us how you made the tests-
and since its a lens test, then all movement and vibration should be eliminated-I’m waiting on an adapter for mine,
and will be testing a few lenses myself soon-Considering all thats written about lenses,
it’ll be interesting to see for myself-j
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantstcstcMemberjohnny, mind sharing where ya got the adapter??
i would be very interested in trying it
MarkKeymasterDoes the adapter has any glass in it ? Just went looking for a Nikon adapter and
there seemed to be one with glass in it and one without which didnt allow infinite focus.JohnnyMcMillanParticipantNo probs….got it from here…
Also Mark this one doesn’t have any glass parts…but don’t forget now with the adapter it’s completely manual…
AllinthemindParticipantInteresting Johnny but It doesn’t follow! Generally, it is easier to make a perfect small lens element than a bigger one. The 5 x 4 lenses are small compared to the mamiya for example. Looking at the crops of the full-picture above, you should be getting much crisper shots than that from the 50mm lens.
I did a non-scientific test of a mamiya rz lens against a nikon 85mm 1.8 and the nikon was better! Bottom line, the EF might not be so great, but something else is going on in your test I’d suggest.
