lenses for my Nikon F-501

I need to buy a new (or used) set of lenses for my Nikon F-501, I found this article in wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikon_F501#Compatibility” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
but I’m not sure which ones are the best option (I need both zoom and wide angle lenses). Can anybody give suggestions?
Thanks a lottexMemberI’m mainly into landscape and my lens of choice is the 24-85mm1:2.8-4 D. I also have but don’t use nearly as much the 105mm 1:2.8 D AF Micro Nikkor.
MurchuParticipantReading Ken Rockwells page (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/compatibility-lens.htm” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;), it would seem you are ok with any AI/ AIS/ AF/ AF-D lenses. Older non-AI lenses won’t mount, AF-S lenses will not autofocus, nor VR lenses be able to use the VR. This gives you a lot to choose from, so it really depends on what you want, what you shoot, in what conditions you shoot, and whether you want autofocus or not.
Your budget will decide will whittle down the options you emerge with, but in all, there are not very many bad Nikon lenses at all. Figure out what you what you need, or think you need from your lenses, and you will know a lot better than what any others can recommend.
Myself, I would favour a trio of fast/ fast’ish primes, one each in the normal, wide, and short tele ranges, whether they will suit you or anyone else cannot be known though. If you’re very unsure of what you may want, you could do a lot worse than a Nikon 50mm f1.8 AF-D, or a 28-200 which is supposed to be quite respectable.
MartinParticipanthave a look at the 28-105 lens from nikon. A great lens if your on a budget. You dont say how much you want to spend…
The Fine PrintMemberThe 24-50 AF-D is quite nice and cheap, or I’d get 1-2 wide primes instead. Augment that with a 50mm and a 80-200 zoom perhaps. But a fast tele is nice, too. Classic outfit. For years I had the 20, 35, 50, 80-200 and 105 as my basic kit (with FE2 bodies) and that was a great line-up. As late as 2006 I shot a wedding entirely with the 20, 24-50, a 50 and a 105.
