Nice Joe, must be a great place to take photographs. Like the light on the mountains.

Joe, it’s a nice snapshot of incredible surroundings, but as a photograph in it’s own right there are a few things you could do to improve the shot.

The first thing I’d do is watch the composition when you’re taking shots like this – look through the viewfinder and check for “clutter”. The edge of the roof of the bottom building sticking into the bottom corner of the page is distracting.

The next is to either have a VERY obvious point of focus or try and use lines in the shot to draw your eyes towards things. In this shot I’m not sure whether I’m meant to look at the mountains or the buildings? Mark has some really great examples of what I’d consider classically composed landscapes. Try perhaps imitating those?
