I don’t know Stephen, except by his postings, but he’s obviously several steps ahead of me. 1) He needs alcohol to hurt focusing his camera, I can misfocus all by myself. 2) If you meant his mental focus, mine has never been quite right! :D
There’s a good bit of work involved in a shot like this. Food colouring all over the place, fanatical adjustment of water levels, lighting, more lighting, positioning, more then a couple of attempts (reset the whole setup), and a patient wife to drop the red food colouring into the glass. If I were to start this process over again with a bottle of vodka, me and my camera gear would be on the street :-)

On closer inspection there are quite a lot of small bubbles and I did consider PS as way of getting rid of them. However, I felt there was just too many.
