I am in a position where I am looking at purchasing studio lighting. As a semi pro I do not have a dedicated studio yet and am looking for something which will be professional, long lasting and versatile. I am looking at the Elinchrom d2’s and d4’s and also at the quadras. I want to maximise the uses for the lights so that they will be good enough to do professional studio work with but also may be portable to bring to locations also (if this is possible). Am I in danger of comprimising and not getting either of what I am looking for.
For a Professional studio outfit, aim for the BX-500-Ri kit and then add the Quadras later, if / when funds allow. Buying the D-Lite kit for a pro studio is like going for a Canon 50D instead of the 5Dmk2, aim higher now and save.
