Quite a few shots from Lismore including the Castle and Towers and it’s Millenium Park Obelisk and Waterfall. Enjoy! Any c/c welcome
vectraMemberSome lovely shots there Jonny
I was actually going to head that direction myself soon.
Getting plenty of practice I see 8)Jonny288ParticipantHi vectra,
You should definately go down when you have a chance there are loads of places for some good shots, I only went to a few of the places on Sunday.
Ya I’m trying my best to get to know the camera as best I can before next week. I’m starting to freak out now on whether or not to buy a 55-200mm lens or not? :?vectraMemberYeah,
I will head down there soon enough Id say,
There is a nice 70-300 for sale in the for sale section here.
I replied to it but if you want it then go ahead as I already have a 70-200Jonny288ParticipantThanks for the tip. If you want it you should go for it, I was looking at the spec and it is not fully compatible with the d40x won’t autofocus :?

Ah,
That settles that then
I will stick with my Sigma. That one does auto focus 8)aoluainParticipantNice set there Jonny228,
Firstly it is not a good idea to post so many images on the one thread,
it makes it very difficult for us to make constructive critique easy
and all you will get more likely is . . .I like these,
nice set there,
Lovely Location,
Well done,
or Very good !You should really keep you threads containing no more than 3 images
For now you should go back in and add numbers to the images so we
can say. . . #’s 1 and 2 are great etc.Alan
Jonny288ParticipantThanks aoluain for the compliment and the advice.
I have tried to break them up into a more manageable set of pics :D
5faytheParticipantHi Jonny288,
Well done for getting out, taking photographs and posting them
for us all to see.You got some good advice there from Alan but I am guessing that there
were more images in your original post.
If this is so I would advise not to change anything in your original posts as
it can be very confusing reading replies referring to content that no longer exists.
For example Alan suggests that “You should really keep you threads containing
no more than 3 images…” but when I viewed you post there are only 3 images.
I first thought “what is Alan talking about” but then I noticed that you had edited the post. The images are not bad at all but the light was not the best and of course we are all
longing for perfect light. :)#3 needs to be rotated anticlockwise a bit as everything is leaning to the right.
Someting there to watch out for when you are looking in your viewfinder.
It can be very annoying when you get a really good shot and lose some of it when
you crop after straightening.Anyway, enough of the preaching. :?
Keep shooting and good luck.
Cheers.
John.
Jonny288ParticipantHey John,
Sorry about the confusion, I seem to have messed everything up. But I’ll get the hang of it (I hope).
Thanks for your feedback too :D

Hi Jonny288,
There’s no harm done at all and you will no doubt get the hang of it.
Keep shooting and posting.
Best of luck.
John.
aoluainParticipant#1 for me is really nice.
Exposure aside which isnt bad the composition is good.
when shooting scenes with buildings I try to record the verticals
as straight as I can along with the horizontals [ image #3 ] which
is hard to do with tall buildings, you did well here, the building isnt
too distorted, that can be fixed in PS easily. If the horse truck was not in the image it would have been a
stronger image, you could have used a wide aperture like f2.8 to
make the backround blur and also making the sculpture stand out
of the scene more.Nice image all the same.
#2 is a really nice scene, could probably do with a little more contrast
but yes a nice image.Alan
Jonny288ParticipantThanks aoluain for that clever tip about the lining pictures up with a building so it will be straight. I would never have thought about it.
