    Just curious – were you shooting from a standing position? Sometimes, a lower position will give more impact to the images (sitting on the grass, or small seat). Maybe something for you to try next time, to just see the difference?

    Nice shots, I think I saw these on FM.com too.

    I like the pictures, do you mind me asking what camera and what settings you are using. Thanks.

    Hi Eeyore

    I shot these photos with the classic 1D (not bad for 4mp) and used the following setting:
    AI Servo
    * button for focus (CFn.4 – 3)
    Center Point (change when/if necessary)
    Moderately slow AI Servo tracking sensitivity (CFn.20 – 2)
    11 Selectable AF points (CFn.13 – 2)
    AV mode for outdoor shooting, set to widest aperture
    Baseline exposure for my MKI is +2/3 EC
    I try to keep the shutter speed to around 1/500
    Review histogram

    Hope this helps

    Thanks,

    I have also been taking pictures for the local rugby club, before Christmas I was using the Sony H9 Point and shoot camera. The week before last week I was using my new 1000D on sports and the pictures were fine but last week I used manual mode and played around with the setting but could not get them right, they are quite blurred. Another match this weekend so trying to get the settings sorted.

    thanks again.
