Lomo Effect c&c
-
MeleKalikimakaParticipant
been playing around with my lomo a fair bit, pretty pricey for scanning so looked around and found an action for creating lomo shots, c&c would be lovely, especially from lomlo owners as to comparaity to a real lomo shot

i love the lomo effect :D
dave100ParticipantI like the vibrant colors in the second – you’ll have to excuse my ignorance when I ask the question;
What is the lomo effect :?

MartinOCParticipantI’m a fan of lomo, I like the style, it works well for certain types of shots. I have one, but don’t use it so much.
I don’t think the lomo effect on the first one is obvious, it is a bit too clean/uniform. But it is a very nice shot, the stronger saturation/contrast makes it look fashion-magazine style but the vignetting is too much for me in this context. Much less vignetting and this would be great, I think.
Number 2 is a great example of lomo, love it.
In number 3 the fact that many people are not looking at the boarder takes away from the action.
The effect doesn’t look so lomo to me.Martin
MDCPhotographyParticipantYeah what is Lomo, I like the look of the effect and could easily use it in my auto shots
MartinOCParticipantLomo (LC-A) is a type of camera, originally made in communist times in St Petersburg.
It is a badly made camera which gives lots of random effects, generally high contrast, saturated colours and vignetting, and little focus control.A couple of Austrian marketing guys, went to Russia and got the contract to sell them to the west.
So they created big marketing buzz:- “you buy a lifestyle, not a product” kind of thing, and these cameras worth about 5 euros sell for 200 from their website.
I believe you can still buy the original cameras for a tiny price on the street in Russia. For typical photos check out

There is a group on this forum called “Low Fidelity” photography for these and other “toy” cameras.
Many magazine advertisements use high contrast, high colour saturation, a bit like the lomo.Martin
dave100ParticipantThanks for that information Martin – you learn something new every day..Nice to be familiar with the expression..I had seen it mentioned here in one or two posts to date.
