    Hi all
took the lens out of my bag last week. Popped it onto camera. Then the zoom ring was really stiff and the focus wouldn’t work etc.etc. I though Oh no sand has gotten in somewhere and jammed it up.
Went home and looked at it to see that it had its mount half pushed in under focus ring.
look at photo. see the dots showing the mis alignment.
Now haven’t a clue what happened it. Unless one of the kids stood on the bag or something. Surely a big force needed to do this though. I have sent it off a few days ago to Canon.
Warranty will hardly cover it but has anythibng like this happened to a lens of yours and is it repairable.

    Thanks

    OUCH.

I’m sure they can repair this, with ease, as long as the elements within are not damaged. It might just be a case of them taking it apart and putting it back together again.

Hopefully you’ll have it back, in full working condition, soon.

I’ve seen something similar before… should be repairable

Let my own fall a while back with similar results as you describe. Yes I’m sure Canon will repair it.. mine cost €180.00.

IMO this would not have happened on it’s own.. it would need some help- if you see what I mean.

    an update on the lens.
I have it back good as new repaired for guess what ( all Canon doubters including myself out there turn away ) free under warranty. Now thats a strange one but fair play to CANON.

Had it back from sending in under 3 weeks.

    Good stuff
