I’m re-working a couple of shots at the moment for camera club and salon submissions- and have come back to this one .. C&C as always ;)

    Very nice Lorraine…

Those eyes are sensational, and I like the framing and the golden ratio
crop. My only niggle is that some patches are just a little too hot, the
shoulder area in particular. Still a lovely image though…

I hate to be critical all the time… but at first glance I thought “great eyes”… then I stared at them harder and closer… and I just get the sense that they look a tad over-cooked… especially the left eye.

I know it’s the norm to sharpen the eyes for portraiture.. but sometimes they seem to jump off the face they’re so sharp and bright. For me it’s not a truly natural look and it stretches reality just a little.

In this case you have a soft face, a soft expression (soft in the natural sense not camera soft) and really contrasting sharpness and brightness in the eyes.

You’re now in a Catch 22 situation… where you’ll get 10 comments on your image all disagreeing with me… which is good if you’re into post count… but is probably bad if you’re looking for some real critique cos people will be too consumed disagreeing with me

Away from the eyes… I like it a lot… composition, conversion and such a pleasant face.

Unfortunately, I agree about the eyes being slightly overprocessed.

The models face is very relaxed and natural and obviously eye contact is great. Nothing much else to fault technically.

I can’t help thinking the fringe encroaches a teenie bit too close to the eyes and the way it sits (slightly longer to the sides and uneven at the centre) draws the viewer away from the subjects eyes and towards her forehead.

Nope – fair point on the eyes .. ;)

I did the mono conversion from this colour version (which i have decided I prefer) – so I’ll probably go back to the raw and start all the processing from there if I decided to opt for the mono at any point

    Cheers

How does it happen if you converted from this color version that the BW have some beauty spots on the shoulder and something on her neck.
BTW. Lovely image. In colour and the BW. Nice framing. Beautiful model, fantastic eyes.

I would love to see more…

    All the best!

I like both versions of this, very natural pose and nicely framed, I do think the little bits of hair that are in her eye lashes are a bit distracting though.

This is a gorgeous portrait Lo… not sure which I prefer more..the mono or colour….it’s such a strong image I don’t think it matters what processing is used…it’s always going to be gorgeous. :D

Lou is one of my favourite models, she’s very relaxed and god fun. She has stunning eyes and you’ve caught them well. I’ve been looking at this for a while trying to offer you something useful. I’m having trouble articulating it… :)

Something about the hair and neck isn’t sitting right for me, maybe her hair over the other shoulder to frame her face differently. Sorry, can’t really say what I feel on this one.

    All best
