Lough Tay at Dawn by Michael Mc Carthy, on Flickr

Dawn at Lough Tay in October. Beautiful spot but very hard to get the light right here.

Nice one Michael, I have always thought what it would look like from the other end, there musn’t be
any access from that end as I dont think I have ever seen a photograph of it. I know what you mean
about the light, if you wait for sunrise you would be blinded and the sunset doesn’t hit that bit at all,
but it is a beautiful part of Wicklow and I never get tired of looking at shots of it. Well done.

Nice shot, I tried to get photos of it myself but at the time I only had a point and shoot and they never came out the way I wanted. I’ve been told you can get access to the other end of the lake, if you start walking a lough Dan and head up over the hills. I don’t know how true that is, I might have to give it a go.

Thanks for your comments, I have gone up there a different times of the year but Autumn seems to be best for getting the light in to the valley at sunrise, but then you have the shadow on the west side to contend with. There is a spot at the other end not far from the road, but the view is not as good. The November/December issue of “Walking World Ireland” maps a route that brings you over the west side, I hope to try it soon and return with the camera if worthwhile.

Brilliant shot. You can imagine the sun rising and lighting up the whole valley. :)
