I think this is a remarkably restrained portrait in the context of the (lamp) standard electioneering poster-
the quality of which fills me with wonder every general election…
It does seem a little flat, though, like an underexposed bounced flash-
though I could be wrong…
I’m struggling to find detail in the suit jacket , where I should be able to appreciate its fine cut-
I think some sort of main light away from the camera position would have improved things-
at the expense of a slightly more complicated setup-
And Pat, fake tan goes a long way with the electorate…
You hit the nail on the head jb… underexposed bounced flash… shot in a living room with the curtains pulled, a tungest ceiling light turned on and a white bed sheet for a back drop. Recession… just no budget for these things.
If I managed in anyway mimic what you see on every other lamp post then I’d accept that… given the circumstances plus the fact that portraits wouldn’t really be my thing.
