DenverDollParticipantAlan RossiterParticipantDenverDollParticipant
Dear Alan,
I have never swallowed a “hocker” maybe I should begin to now?
These treasures of the sea are delicious.
Truly,
Sharon
Alan RossiterParticipantMight I quote that comic genius…the one that married his adopted daughter:
“I will not eat oysters. I want my food dead. Not sick. Not wounded. Dead!”
Woody Allen
And I concur! I bet you like Marmite too?
Alan.
nfl-fanParticipantBefore I comment… can I ask… “With or without Tabasco?”, “Chew or down in one?”.
I don’t get the Tabasco… it’s strong and I can only imagine that it kills a lot of the flavour.
I always thought they were supposed to be downed in one… which leads me to think that you’re never getting the full flavour?
Only had them once… and that was a long time ago… so can’t quite remember the experience.
DenverDollParticipantHmmm..no I don’t like Marmite too much…
But there’s nothing living in Marmite? …but then..I hope that’s not the reason I don’t like it…
I think I don’t like it because it tastes really sort of salty…not sure again…about the hocker part..no experience there.
Shar…
nfl-fanParticipantThere’s not a lot of people with the balls in this life to compare themselves to Woody Allen… well done Alan
DenverDollParticipantNFL~~John…why didn’t you eat one of these?
I chew them..some people don’t but I think that is because they want more and can get more faster if they don’t chew them.
The Tabasco is a nice compliment salt and spice and the sour lemon bring out the flavour..not hide it.
Now you have to come back and eat one..because you really cannot comment yet.
Unless you want to comment on the quality of this photo :D
Alan RossiterParticipantThanks nfl…I think :?
But, I won’t tarnish Sharons thread of the wonderful capture of natures ugliest food source with a response in wit of any of Woodys other outbursts.
And thanks for sharing Sharon.
nfl-fanParticipantWell.. the photo has me interested and has my taste buds longing for something delish.. there’s something about shellfish that does it for me… usually when it’s steamed in a little white wine, garlic and butter.. say like Mussels.
I didn’t indulge the other night… but that was probably some initial shyness. Next time… move over… and let me in!!!
nfl-fanParticipantBTW:
Alan: Where can you purchase Scallops down around these parts and how much do they cost?
Alan RossiterParticipantMylers in the Bullring in Wexford do have them but it must be the off season. I got some about 2 days ago, frozen ones…oh, mammy! :P
How much – I don’t know to be honest but per lb they would be quite expensive, I’d imagine. I’d have to ask herself where she gets them if not Meylers. I’ll let you know.
Alan
jb7ParticipantjessthespringerParticipantEuuuuugggghhhhhhhh! I can’t get my head around eating these things,
I just can’t…… Bet you all like blue cheese as well!!Sorry Sharon…. Just don’t like em! :sick
BrickeeParticipantShar, Make them Rockerfeller and I’ll sit down for a few dozen :P
BTW-Very nice shot.Jim
