i like the light in the first one, i like the grain and the smile in the second
The lights are just a little harsh for me and too low in the first creating shadows that dont add to the picture. I would say go higher with the light, use a softbox or something to soften the light a little, turn down the lights a couple of notches and have your model looking toward the light with some eye contact with the camera also pump up your shutter speed a little
