My second visit in a week to try nail this shot. Again the sun didn’t play ball.
I will return again to get the sun lighting up the hill opposite. It only happens for a few minutes around 30 minutes after official sunrise time.

    Lower Lake, Glendalough, 21 Oct 2012 – around 9am.

    Canon 5DMKii & 17-40mm
    B+W polariser & Lee 0.6 GND (soft)
f/16 – two exposures blended in Photoshop.
    Nik Software in Photoshop CS6

With or without the sun I think this shot looks pretty good. The range of colour in the near hill is what captures my eye and the darker hill is what keeps the viewers eye from wandering out of the photo and throws the attention back to the rocks in the foreground.

Very nice indeed, well caught. The background trees seem just a little over sharpened but easily fixed

and possible the colour is a bit off – it looks a bit too “unreal”

maybe simulate a skylight filter on this.

nice all the same love the fog!
