Regarding the first, I like the use of natural light, and you’ve
got it sharp where it matters most – at the eye. The raised
hand is distracting though, as are the blown highlights on
the little chap’s forehead.
I like the conversion on the second, nice contrast and good
and sharp. Compositionally it isn’t helped by the heavily
patterned clothing which makes the image appear cluttered,
and it’s a shame the father’s right eye is obscured. But you
asked about the conversion, and to my eye it’s spot on.
