MacBook Air

Its def not a desktop replacement laptop and its not trying to be.

It is an ultra portable, but without the usability problems of small, low res screens and cramped keyboards. It weighs 3lbs, compared to the macbook (with the same 13″ size screen and keyboard) which weighs in at 5lbs.

This is the laptop for the business people who spend more time flying across the world than they do driving their own car. They will appreciate the size and weight. It is not a power computer for graphics, video, or design. The gorgeous form factor is sure to impress associates – or at least, send the right message.

The multi touch trackpad is a slick touch, and is sure to filter down. Pinch to zoom, swipe 3 fingers to go forward/back in browser, and other (unlimited) user programmable gestures.

This is the laptop you take with you, when you leave your main desktop computer behind in the office.

It has a small niche market. And you pay a lot for it. I’d like one. But I don’t need one. My ?599 macbook is more powerful. But its not as tiny. And its certainly hasn’t got the wow.

Well, I think its a heap of bumfluff from Apple.

I’m just a bit peeved with their bullshit.

I call 3 grand for a high end calculator taking a hand at us, the customer.

In my opinion, its a load of *** cheese.

    Agree with that bigtime….

i am tempted, imagine how much lighter your camera bag would be

for shoots using it to preview etc, great for that

and when i am flying to uk etc, much easier on the old weight limit restrictions etc when i have my gear with me

So would I, if they were holding a gun to my head.
I want an Aston Martin, but I’m not losing any sleep because i think it’s an overpriced Mondeo.

Mick, I accept you don’t agree with me.

Sorry if I appeared to force my opinion on you.

But its just my opinion, nothing more.

No-one has to buy the blasted thing, least of all you or me.

I am not sitting here in a incandescent rage at the whole thing, just pointing out a fact I find silly.

    Accept that, or don’t. I couldn’t give a toss.

Ken… I was only thinking yesterday I hadn’t seen you on PI for weeks, maybe not since Christmas (I was going to check with Sean as to your whereabouts)… and now you’re back, outta the blue and you’re hovering over this MAC crap all day… come back down to the C&C section and join in the fun brother!!!

Sure come on down and slate a few shots in the landscapes section… nothing like a few wild comments to get a good ‘debate’ going.

You been out snapping at all of late?

Did a few bits an bobs alright, mostly work for friends though.

Haven’t got near the coast or a mountain in a few weeks though. Hopefully will be out on Sunday to catch the tale end of the Galway Rally.

    Looking forward to that.

To be honest, I’m just pissed off I don’t have shares in Apple!!

If I did, I’d be the first to tell you all to buy one.

Ahhh, the joy of being a hypocrite.
