Macleays Spectre Stick Insect

Taken with kit lens through glass, not the ideal set-up for insects but i thought i’d throw it up anyway because ya don’t see these everyday. I should’ve cloned out the white spots and will bring a better lens next time :?
Taken in Dublin Zoo, May 15th.
Like something out of Alien. I was watching a documentary about the history of the earth and it said that in the distant past (thank god) there was so much Oxygen in the atmosphere that these guys could be as big as a cat…..can you imagine that.
That would make camping an extinct pastime I reckon :)
