I’m in process of purchase 50mm macro lens for my Canon 40D and cannot decide which one. Canon is fairly old but according to some reviews still performs even on digital. Sigma is more “future-proof” newer technology. All technical details i know very well so no need to telling me Canon has only 1:2 magnification, also price difference is marginal. just your personal opinion.
I only shoot general macro – stuff around house when weather keeps me in, otherwise landscape, no living creatures (woms etc.)
Thanks
So get sigma 70mm, tokina 100mm or tamron 90mm if you can’t afford older canon 100mm (non-IS). This canon appears to be the best choice though. A focal lenght of 50mm is not enough for many macro shots. Working distance is just couple of cm’s. Don’t waste your money.
