Fan-diddley-tastic! the other set were cool as well. Love the lighting colours detail and contrast. If I had to find a fault with them or a way to make them look better I would say that the edges of the wingtips of the insects in 2 & 3 look a fraction too dark. Dont get me wrong though – they are very impressive.

Heck these are great. I’ve have this lens also and have tried macro and its not easy at all.

I have been blaming the lens ;) , now I have no excuse

Did you prefocussing on the wasp ?

Thanks for the comments, glad you like them.2 things to say though……the insects in question actually have black outlines to their wings  The first image is a hoverfly,I’m trying to capture every species that visits my garden! So far I’ve got 5 species of hoverfly but there’s plenty more to get :) The small bee in the orange flower is a leaf cutter bee.Solitary by nature, they cut a perfect semi circle from a leaf, roll it up like a sleeping bag and fly off carrying it between their legs.
They then find a hole in a wall, line it with the leaf and lay an egg inside before sealing it with another piece of leaf…amazing stuff!Sorry for sidetracking…..anyway,to get the best from the lens stick it on manual focus and pan in or out ’til you find the range,Iwas tracking this hoverfly for 5 minutes before I got the shot I wanted :x

Absolutely love these shots, incredibly vivid colour. That last shot, sans insect, just leaps off the screen. Nice work indeed. I’ll have to get some tips from you when I get a little more used to my camera and want to branch out. 8)
