Maguro
-
DenverDollParticipant
This is what I made for dinner last night.
I haven’t done any photography since the hard drive on my pc crashed. I am using a tiny laptop and having a rough time checkin out my photos between my crappy eyesight and this itsy screen.
Any comments regarding sharpness, color, compo, EVERYTHING..is much appreciated. Thanks a mil, Sharonjb7ParticipantSorry for your troubles Sharon-
Are you editing these on your Laptop?
They do look very yummy-
I haven’t had Maguro, but I want some now-Is it sushi-ey?
These look just a little bit on the dull side-
I’d like to think it was the laptop,
perhaps that’s part of it,
but I’d say the lighting has something to do with it too-Judging from the shadows, the light is from the top,
or just a bit behind; the important bit of the dish,
right in the middle, looks to be in shadow-
though I think you might have been trying to show some translucency,
and perhaps bring the levels up might work too-It does look lovely though-

DenverDollParticipantThanks so much for all of that J!
You are so accurate too. It was available nighttime kitchen lighting and and not thought out at all. The sort of thing where it was more like screaming at them to get out of the way for just one second so I could take a snap  You are exactly right. I looked at the lights today and they were pointed everywhere except where I set down the plate and light behind is a reflected off the tile.
On here these look acceptable…so your observations are really very very helpful to me~~
The maguro is sushi grade tuna and my most favorite food in the world. (At the momemt.) This was pretty much just slopped onto the plate because they were starving and they dont really care what it looks like..and this was the only dish I could my hands on. Will work on the presentation next time I take a pic because it really should look like art :D

jessthespringerParticipantOh, these are lovely Shar, and I’m hungry looking at them *drool* I want to come round for dinner :)
I think these might be better/look cleaner if you shot them on a more plain surface. I bought some card from an Art shop a while ago, A2 size,
one side is white, the other black. Roughly around 3 pounds per sheet, it would be good for something like this, I think.
They also work quite well as reflectors too. They do look good though.
Sinead
MartinOCParticipantIt looks very oishii (tasty)
I like the first the best, the light lifts it better then the second and the elements blend together too much in the closer-in shot.
I can’t add any more to what the others have said.I love maguro and especially the fatty stuff, toro.
Perhaps I’ll go for sushi tonight, I fly tomorrow, see you Sat…M
