Thanks to all for the good advice you gave me. Was a pretty nerve shattering experience!! Had some help from one of my class mates, was so glad she was there, would have been lost without her.
About half way through I bottled it and switched the camera to auto… I know a lot of people do this for weddings.

Anyway, thought I’d post this one for c&c, sorry for the thumbnail but do not want to post any on flickr until they have got the album.

Hi Sinead, can’t say that I like this one – the B&W seems to lose a lot of the darker detail (groom’s suit, background trees)

for me, wedding photos are all about how well people relate to each other, the expressions on peoples faces; as such I think this photo works very well….the setting/ background is very nice also. The colour/ b&w balance works well, the faded green contributes well to the photo. My only issue would be the tight crop over the groom’s head.

Well done on shooting the wedding, I’m sure it must be a big relief to get it done and the shots in the bag! I think I would crack under the pressure…!

I like this photo, I think there is a nice, natural interaction between the B&G and I like the composition. I dont know if I would have noticed it myself but the previous comment about the tight crop on the G’s head I would agree with and I’d maybe lose a bit of the empty space to the B’s left. IMO this is being hypercritical though, its a great photo and I’m sure the newly weds will be very happy if they are all as good as this.

I think it’s pretty good… his head is a bit close to the top of the frame and maybe I’d have brought them a little closer together in the composition and moved the excess dress to the left. Suppose hindsight is a great thing eh!

Congrats on your the first wedding, it gets easier from here.

On the photo – I think you got some things right and some things wrong. I really like the moment. I like the interaction between the couple. The biggest problem in the photo for me is that my eyes are attracted to the space between the BnG rather to either of them or both of them together. I also think the gap gives an odd sense of tension, maybe not one that would generally be associated with wedding photography. I’d agree with nfl that if you had them closer together left or right of frame, the photo would be much easier to look at.

just my 2 cents. The main thing is always whether they like them. If they do you’ve got a winner no matter what anyone else says.
