Makeup of a feather (x5)

Excellent stuff. Really really like this.The lines in it are fantastic. Just a pity the image gets a bit OOF at the bottom right. Did you add the colour yourself or what sort of a feather or bird is this ? Also what lens did you use for this. Great shot :)

I’ve no idea about what type of bird the feather is from, I just found it in a pack of coloured feathers from an art supply store. The lens used is a Canon mp-e 65mm x5 times lifesize f/16 which is the smallest aperture on this lens, so DOF is rather thin, especially on a crop sensor (Canon 7D). It’s also not the best aperture for sharpness & I was tempted to focus stack to increase the DOF, but sort of liked the way it was and just left it.
