Someone just pointed out to me that the foreground kinda ruins this. I purposely left it in becasue I thought it added to the pic! DO you think its too mucky looking?

    Tell me what you think!

    Thanks!

    Fiona,

I think that the foreground is a bit undefined. I’m not getting a feeling of connection between the puddle and the distant view. Perhaps there is just too much detail around it.

I’m not sure how you would crop this to leave something better to be honest though. The sky is also a bit blown out near the sun. I do sympathise with you there though. Those conditions are very challenging when you are trying to retain foreground detail.

My advice to you would be to think simply. You don’t always need an obligatory foreground. And if you do use one, think about how it can connect through your photograph.

I was looking at the full size photo and you have some spots there (up n the sky) either you had something on your lens or your sensor needs to be cleaned!

Being from Malahide i too appreciate how hard it is to get the Marina looking just right. Colours are wonderful but there is definately too much burning from the sun. Maybe if the sun was taken out of the frame and the focus was more to the left towards Cruzzo’s and zoomed in a little or maybe leave the focal length to take in the path behind the Square Tennis Club. Great idea for the location of the snap though!!
