Mamiya RZ help!!!!

I have finally put together a Mamiya kit with an RZ67 pro body, 220 back, waist level finder and a 180mm lens.
I put a new battery in the body, but it seems to only fire at one shutter speed, regardless of what setting the dial is on.
The most obvious diagnosis (easy there Dr House) is that it is broken!
I am hoping that I am overlooking something.
Any advice would be welcome – including the best place to bring it for repairs if necessary.

    Thanks in advance folks,
    Cormac

    Not necessarily broken Cormac.

The lenses have built in shutters but because the body is electronic (largely) the camera has an emergency mechanical speed of 1/400th sec. in case of battery failure.

I would try a different battery or make sure that the contacts are clean of any green residue in the battery compartment and try again, especially if the camera has been laying up a while.

See the attached page from an online manual:

    http://www.cameramanuals.org/mamiya_pdf/mamiya_rz67_proii-1.pdf

The RZ is a quality camera. You should consider downloading the manual or doing a google search if the problem persists.

    Be patient….it will work I’m sure. :o

Try what George said, if that fails then:

In the view finder down the bottom is there any light coming on or anything happening there when hitting the shutter? If you leave in the darkslide and press the shutter does it beep at you or does a light come on in the view finder at the bottom. If it does then the battery is fine other wise It might not be so well

I have an RZ67II and live in Drogheda if you want to call in we can swap the body, backs etc to find the problem….

    Hey Martin

Thanks so much for the tip, and the offer.
If I don’t have any luck I will certainly come knocking on your door!
