Some of my macros from this last few days of my pet mantis.
All shot using Nikon D200 + Sigma 150mm Macros some with 1.4tc manual everything.
    Hope these are ok.

Chinese Praying Mantis Nymph (1.5cm long)

    Polyspilota Aeruginosa (Madagascan Marbled Mantis)

Prohierodula Picta (Blue Winged Mantis Nymph)

Trying to light the following three images up like it was shot outside!

Cheers for looking will post more at some stage.

    They’re wild-
well, a pet, like you said, but, you know what I mean-

The only one that doesn’t sit right here is the one with the flare-

    The first few are great-
particularly the first, and the one with the drops-

I like the one with what looks like a vignette too-

So these are quite small then?
Like about 100mm long or so?

Just that there’s been a bit of debate here recently about what’s small and what isn’t-

    very good-
    good colour too-

The biggest would be about 4.5cm atm.
The last 3 are shot on moss so think of the size of strands of moss for scale.
when they reach adult the biggest would be about 8cm and will have stunning colourful wings

Faabulous macros. If we’re choosing favourites, then
I’d have to go for numbers one, two and five…
    Stunning.

Life span varies from species to species some only live for 6 months and others will make a year at max, really just a matter of breeding them to keep the collection alive.
    Cheers Gareth

Great work indeed, I love #2 and #3….
