Might not be the right section but anyway … taken today at the National Stud just before the sky turned black and the heavens opened:

    Really nice picture.
Is just my monitor of is there a strange effect going on at the top of the tree on the right.
I just cropped it down to just the two heads in sort of letterbox layout and it actually looks good.
You caught a really nice moment here.

    Thanks,
I got a little lucky with this. Imagine you’ve just been called about a job and are talking on your mobile to a recruitment agent. You got your 100-400 fully extended and balanced on a fence and *damn* the foal has gotten up and the moment you’ve been waiting for is happening. Had to focus, meter, hold the camera and shoot with just one hand.

The funny effect is a vignette I applied. You can see it on 3 of the 4 corners … it didn’t take on the sky.

Well caught Aiden….pays to always be alert huh?

Must get down there again soon…it’s a lovely spot and lots of photographic ops. I love the little meditation garden with the statue of the saint in the middle of the small lake.

Yeah … I wanted to get a shot of that but the light was too harsh at the time. Would need to be there early in the morning. There’s a shot I’ve been itching to get in the Japanese Garden for a while too.

The swans were fun to watch though. The female adult appeared to be nesting. The male was going ape all over the 3 almost adult cygnets, tryign to get them away from the area. he was really ticked off, steaming after them all over the pond with his wings curled up in the air. He even chased one up on the bank, nipping it’s tail.
