Marlfield Oak Tree [edited]

This was taken in Marlfield, outside Clonmel in Tipperary. I have processed a few versions and, as usual, can’t decide when to stop! I would be interested to hear what people think of the processing especially…

EDIT: I re-edited the photo and replaced it on Flickr, I forgot that this would get rid of the original  , thus rendering the C&C on this non-sensical… Sorry about that! This is a newer version with some changes based on the C&C below.

I like this picture. Its a well composed image with the tracks leading you right into the tree. But theres something about the colours which I cannot put my finger on…..maybe its just my eyes…..Nice shot though.

I would like to see this scene in the morning or evening

I agree with the comment above, covered in a golden light I think it would make a lovely scene.

Try darkening the image (or move the right slider in levels) and raising the saturation a bit. It’s well composed, but some processing can get more out of it.

The greens look a little too green to me. I’d love this in B&W.

Good composition. I love the way the track sweeps into the frame. If there is any space to the left, I’d prefer to see some green to frame the leftmost track.

As for the processing, I think the image is lacking contrast. It’s also possibly just a bit too saturated. I would dial up the contrast using curves, and play with pulling the saturation back a bit.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

I agree, it looks too saturated to me looking at it again. I usually leave a shot a few days after processing and have a look at it with fresh eyes. You could keep tinkering at it all day but you have to say enough is enough at some point! I might try a B&W version too.

In Ireland nothing can be too green :)
