Unfortunately I’m not quite sure what I’m meant to be looking at either. The eye is naturally drawn to areas of high contrast so in this shot it’s the border between the building and the people… but there’s no real point of focus. I do love street shots and monochrome images, but for me this one isn’t nailed. The conversion is great, it has good contrast and it’s sharp. But there’s nothing that draws me in.

Ya there is alot to like about the photo, but there are also some distractions.

I wonder would a square format crop work ?

    The conversion is great

ahem! that’s because it was shot on Ilford fp4+ and didn’t need converting :)

Apologies. I didn’t mean to come across as a complete phillistine.

Might be useful in future to give some information regarding the media and anything that might be interesting when posting photographs for critique ?

thats ok your comments are valid anyway! to be honest i have never got the hang of people shots and rarely take anything with people in, thats probably revealed some major personality defect :)

I hated Marrakech and took very few pics that day

Love the tones. Agree that a square crop might be nice.
