Martin and the Snow Leopard

Martin, you mentioned you upgraded to Snow Lepopard, I think-
No problems at all?I’ve got to reorganize all my drives,
and was thinking I should maybe take the step,
since the new format isn’t available on 10.5.8.Probably something I’d have to do at some point-
I notice Epson haven’t upgraded the drivers for the R1800,
but that it still runs under Rosetta-
Don’t suppose you have any experience of that? The V750 has new drivers, do you use the Epson or the Silverfast software?
Altogether, do you think it was worth the upgrade?
I haven’t been following things,
but I’ve never been an early adopter with operating systems-
Prefer to let people like you tell me when it’s ok to do so…MartinOCParticipantI’m not that Martin, but I did upgrade to Snow leopard recently.
It was very straightforward, and its not so expensive. The biggest effect I noticed was that I got a few gigs of disk space back.
It probably is a bit snappier but I can’t say I benchmarked it. The disk eject function supposedly works more often now.I use a v500, and have used with both Epson software and Vuescan, neither had any problem.
There is very little difference, a lot of it subtle improvements supposedly.
Philosophically I’m happy about that, don’t need new features, just for it to work better, but it is like paying for a service pack. There is some mention on the web of trouble with guest accounts and data loss if you upgrade in a certain way, so best to Google for problems if you do intend to upgrade.
I haven’t turned on my printer since I upgraded, about a month ago.
I sure the other Martin will be along soon.

Upgraded to the latest version of Leopard during the week which means I am on 10.5.8 as well
To be honest I haven’t been keeping up with things, so didn’t know about snow leopard  (sorry 121FOTO :-) still love my mac and would not go back to PC’s… )Its hard to know if to upgrade or not. I’ll leave it a while till they have some patches out for snow leopard to fix the main issues
If I was you Id leave it a while (at least until they have a few patches released for it) unless though there is something in SL that you really must have now….

Im using SL on my MacBook Pro and so far so good. One thing that I really like is that in any folder in the finder you can now make the file icon sizes huge… Makes it really handy for quickly reviewing images without jumping into Preview or PotatoSoup. Everything else does seem a little snapper with native applications opening in seconds and others actions happening instantly. To be honest initially I had to look for the differences between it and Leopard but now after using it for a few weeks the differences while not massive are significant enough to make it worth the money..!

Now if that had only read ‘the disk eejit function’
I’m sure Apple would have relocated from Cupertino to Dublin ages ago-Martin?
10.5.8?
don’t tell me you’re waiting for me to upgrade, so that I can tell you it’s safe to do so?Richie, good to see you again, will probably take your advice, and that of the brave Martin too-
it’s the future, can’t argue with that-Martin-
will let you know when it’s safe…j

will let you know when it’s safe…Thanks Guinea Pig :-) i’ll wait for the nod. Main thing id be afraid of is that my V700 will still work, but it does look like Epson has drivers for SL…
nfl-fanParticipantI love my PC Very Happy
Gave up on shi*ty leopard two years ago, i’ll never go back to the crap they call an operating system….
jb7ParticipantGuinea Pig?
