Maxy at the 2006 Sunflower………
-
DerekLavertyParticipant
Here is an image taken a few months back. It’s my m8 Maxy. It was Taken at the Sunflower trophy 2006. It’s a pre 97 bike ( for those who are interested) and he rides the tyres off it to keep up with the newer machines. I put it up for some C & C . Not my usual type of photo but was a day’s fun.
DerekLavertyParticipantSorry about the size of this image I never seem to get it right……….

PeteTheBlokeMemberNot Pete the blokeParticipantThese are really excellent Derek! Where is the location?
At BPIC camera club last night we had a Pro from F1, Michael Cooper, doing a talk and presentation. He had quite a few Bike images as well as F1 stuff, and it would be something I would like to try at some stage, if there are any races or circuits you can recommend for Belfast area?Ross
DerekLavertyParticipantThe location was Bishops Court Ross. It just outside Downpatrick so not really that far away. There is also another course close called Kirkestown I think thats how it’s spelt. It’s on the coast near portaferry. Both are short circuit courses and are good for photographs if you have a good zoom (300-400). There is also a short circuit course at Nutts Corner near crumlin and the International Airport. At my 2 local circuits there is bike racing sports car racing, and rallying. If you like I can find out, i think there is a rally event on there soon.
My Dad takes photographs for a well known bike racing magazine. So thats how I was able to get so close to the track. I can find out about races and events if you want. I know he is all over the country taking photographs during the racing season.
JohnnyMcMillanParticipantTechnically very good shots with nice speed…but I think next time try a few different locations on the track or different angles just to make each image stick out on it’s own…know what I mean?
Not Pete the blokeParticipantDerek
Definitely keep me posted about upcoming bike/rally events.Ross
PS A link to the F1 photographer I mentioned:
wavydaveMemberDerek,
Very nice shots and I am sure the riders themselves would be proud to have any of these hang on their wall. My only crituque relates to shot 1 where I would suggest cropping out the bit of grass and track in the lower left corner and to shots 2 & 3 which look like they could use a bit of levels adjustment (a bit dark on MY screen).Dave
Brendan LennonParticipantFundamentally good pics Derek, just a little dark and gloomy as Dave said, maybe crop out the unnecessary background, autocorrect levels and sharpen a little in Photoshop.
Good technique (slow shutter speeds seperate the men from the mushrooms) so maybe its time to invest in a better lens for more light and detail.
