nfl-fanParticipant
Third photo of this same tree posted here on P.I.
Soz if iz a bit big… I only host portrait images at 800px.
PitmaticMemberAll round good guy! LOL
Now I am no expert but i think your camera is broken as the colours not working I would get radio rentals to fix it…
But seriously I do like this the tones are very nice and the crop looks very interesting with the tyre trails thought it and that tree…
Very Very nice my only niggle and its really quite small is the halo but then it might be intentional I wish I was that good or at least an all round good guy of the Month :)
nfl-fanParticipantAye… it’s not quite there this one Pit… feckin weather is really unpredictable… puffy white clouds and blue sky when I left the house (plan was to use the IR camera)… grey cloud and rain when I got to the field.
Yep… there is a halo… I hoped nobody would notice it. I had to do one exposure for the tree n foreground and one for the sky… and the blending is a bit naff. This is one of those photos that is acceptable when viewed at this size… but when viewed at 100% it’s shockingly bad.
Plan was to go back this morning and shoot it again with the light at my back… puffy white clouds and blue sky when I got up… grey cloud and rain as I left the house.

miki gParticipantHi nfl fan. This is a very pleasing image. The barley has a nice texture to it. Great lighting and detail in the sky. Well done
Alan RossiterParticipantI like this one a lot – halos accepted…even though they don’t stand out enough for me to see what you’re talking about.
One thing – the immediate foreground is in focus, the tree is in focus but there’s a patch between the two that isn’t…is this the blending or the Lensbaby…or do I need my eyes tested?
All around good guy…hmmm, I sense a GC thread coming.
Alan.
nfl-fanParticipantCheerz lads.
Alan – the out of focus bit… it might be selective bits of barley moving in the wind or just something funky when the exposures where blended?
I like the composition myself and the atmosphere to it, technically it just doesn’t hold up well if you were to give it a closer look. Needs to be re-done… I’m hoping the weather picks up today.
Thanks again.
Jmiki gParticipantNot sure about the halo, Has nfl been elevated to saint now and nobody told us? :D :D :D
mgstParticipantNice one John as you said well worth doing again nice composition with the sweeping tracks around the tree
and the movement of the barley.Mick
PitmaticMemberJust a thought on the blending have you tried using the threshold filter to create a mask of the tree and use that for blending the two exposures?
Mark
MickSParticipantLovely composition, very pleasing on the eye. Looking forward to Me Tree V.4
RobMemberDeeboParticipantNice shot John and looks great at this size.
I can imagine myself floating though this field to the gladiator theme song.
Looking forward to the second efforts but i am big fan of this shot
DeeAedanCParticipantOk, so there is a bit of a halo, but I find it minor and non-obtrusive. Altogether a fine picture.
Is there a colour version on line anywhere, just for comparison like?

5faytheParticipantHi John,
I really like this one.
The wide angle has worked really well.
The tree is nice and big in the frame and still plenty
of room around it.The composition is spot on with the tracks curving
round the tree.I know what you mean about the rapidly changing
weather conditions we have at present.
Noticed the lovely light streaming through my back windows at
9 this evening and rushed down to the burrow to get drenched. :cry:Anyway I think your image is good even if you think it won’t print
to poster size. :wink:Cheers.
John.
cathaldParticipantThats a cracker big man I would love to see that printed
The nice softness feel to the moving grass
Dont mind the bit of halo at all as I think it makes the tree stand out a tad more against the skylineCathal
