memory stick problem?

I took my memory stick to the photo lab today to have a photo printed. when i put the stick into the unit, it displayed photos that i had deleted from the stick some week back. so when i got home i checked the memory stick just in case i had forgotten to erase these photos, but they were no where to be found. i was using a Transcend jf V30/ 2 Gb memory stick. Has anyone got any ideas why this has happened.

what can you see on the stick, the one you wanted, or the others too,

the ones you deleted, are not in the recylce bin maybe?

those kiosks tend to show everything on the stick

    Hi Iris.
When you delete a file / picture, the information from it still remains on the disk / memory stick even though you cannot see it. This information will remain until it is over-written by new files, which is why data recovery software can be used to rescue accidently deleted files. The kiosk probably has built-in recovery software.
There are also file destruction programs available which are used to securely delete this information from your discs by randomly over-writing the information several times so that it cannot be recovered. Very useful if you have sensitive information such as bank details contained in files which you want to securely delete. This is something that a lot of people don’t tend to realise when they sell their old computers / laptops, even though they delete their personal details from the hard-drives.

Cheers Miki g. I didn’t know that. I had loads of information on the memory stick that i thought was removed/deleted.
