Minimal Effort

I went out to Crone Forest this evening and was hugely unsuccessful. I got a few almost good pictures and my flash ran out of batteries so I decided to go home… on the way back I had to stop in the middle of nowhere to take a few shots of the evening colours. Not a good picture, but I liked the simplicity in this landscape. What do you think?

There are a few things about this that I’m less than happy with,
but that could probably be sorted out by a conversion-The sky is an odd colour to me for a start,
and I find it a bit difficult to get past that-
there might even be an argument for not including the sky at all-I’m all for highly detailed, textural, near abstract pieces,
but I just wonder if the composition in this is just a bit random (sorry)I presume this was at the 10mm end?
depth of field is huge, so maybe going much closer, into the front clump might have been an option?I know you’re looking at a much different, larger original,
but the one thing that can be gleaned from the reduction is the overall composition-Sorry not to be more positive about this one-
and I’m sure its much better bigger-j
randomwayMemberJB, you understood the picture. Minimal effort.. I stopped randomly to catch the lights, got a fairly nice coloured grass, rotated, cropped it, overlaid a much darker sky than the original and put it up on the forum…that’s what I call laziness. I stopped at a gate to take this and of course from the middle of nowhere a car appeared and was complaining that I stopped where it was forbidden to park… I had to snap a shot and knew that it will turn against me..
I will take the effort and post another one, on which I will make no alternations at all and on which I was going for the grass only (you were totally right in eveything, the grass would make a pic on it’s own).
And yes, it’s the 10mm end of the Sigma..
Back in a sec with a photo.
randomwayMemberNow, here is the original of the above:
And here are some other experiments… straight out of the camera (I’m not in the mood to start editing them.) What do you think, did I do much damage with my work when processing the first one?
